To the Editor:
As a former employee of the Crystal Lake Public Library in the maintenance department from November 2003 until December 31, 2011, the building is a disaster.
We duct taped and jerry-rigged things to make it work. The heating and air conditioning system is so old parts cannot be had. The light system is bad, and lights are no longer made. The north porch is settling. Every spring and summer, curbs, sidewalks, and porches had to be repaired. There are building leaks when it rains. The parking lot settled. The sidewalk on the north side is at parking lot level.
This is only a few things, and all this after project Shoehorn in 2006. If this is what the people want, vote no. Vote yes, otherwise in 10 more years, it will be a pile of rubble that can’t be repaired.
I vote yes.
